The Training School is on the outskirts of Long Ashton, a village about 5 miles south from the centre of Bristol. We have a large, light wooden floored room; two other rooms, one of which contains our library; a kitchen and toilets.

We are surrounded by fields and have a grassy space outside that we sometimes use for walking and running and to enjoy the sun in break! The Training School is easily reached by car, bike or bus. We have plenty of off-road parking.

Bristol

Bristol is a thriving, multi-cultured city, nestled in the beautiful West Country. There are two universities, the Old Vic Drama school and centres for training in many different disciplines: dance, voice, drumming, philosophy, shiatsu, acupuncture, massage, drama, to name a few.

There is a wide choice of entertainment: theatres; the Welsh National Opera; classical and every other kind of music. Good sports facilities. Wonderful walks in the city and the countryside.

There is a wide choice of housing, ranging in price from the ridiculous to affordable. Affordable housing can still be found in attractive areas for £250 a month. Work opportunities are varied and available.

Directions to the Training School

From the North

Via M5:

Exit at Junction 19. Take the A369 towards Bristol. It will eventually be called Abbots Leigh Road. Turn right (traffic lights) onto B3129, Beggar Bush Lane. Just past the Redwood Lodge Country Club turn left onto Longwood Lane, straight over at cross roads onto Providence Lane. Steeply down the hill to bottom. Turn right onto Long Ashton Road. As you leave the village, the Guide Hut is on the left, just before the 50 mph sign. There is a big paper recycling container in the car park.

Via M32:

This involves traversing Bristol on the A370, to Weston super Mare. You will go by Bristol Temple Meads railway station then right at the roundabout. Follow signs for A370 for a mile or two. Leaving Bristol and leaving the flyover, coming onto the dual carriageway A370, within a few hundred yards there is a slip road off to the left signed to Long Ashton, B3128, pass under the A370 and shortly turn left into Long Ashton, opposite stone gateway and high wall. Go all the way through the village. It is a long street so don’t give up! The Guide HQ is on the left as you leave the village, just before the 50mph sign.

From the South

Via M5:

Exit at Junction 20. Right at the roundabout and up to B3130, Tickenham Road. Just before the junction with the A370 turn left to Long Ashton (probably Weston Road). As civilisation approaches, the Guide HQ is on the right, immediately after the 30mph sign.

Via A370:

Approaching Bristol, watch for the sign for Long Ashton. It is a small sign so you can easily miss it. Left on B3130, then right to Long Ashton (probably Weston Road). The Guide HQ is on the right just at the edge of the village, immediately after the 30 mph sign.

From the East

See North via M32.

By Bus

Numbers 8, 9, 351, or 500. Frequent.

From Central Bus Station, or from Anchor Rd, or Hotwells Rd, to Long Ashton:
